Hi! I’m Crystal Bailar, artist and founder of Mosstangle Arts.

My wood burning journey began in 2017 when I found some wood slices and thought it would be fun to make coasters for my home.

I burned trees on those coasters and loved the process so much that I was hooked. I couldn’t stop burning. The slow immersive meditative process not only appealed to my creative side, but also to my love for spending time outdoors.

After a year of selling online and at local markets, I loved the process so much I wanted to share pyrography with others, and started teaching classes.

I live in Monroe, WA with my husband Jim, and our dog Winston where I create my adventure inspired pyrography art from my studio and teach wood burning workshops all over Western Washington. When I’m not burning, teaching, or working behind the scenes, you will find me outside, in the woods, up a mountain, along a trail, on the water, or where ever I can find adventure.
